Biography
RUFF(Raffaele A) was born January 30, 1967 in Switzerland. The alternative and electronic music has always fascinated him since the early years, when he was still in school Electronic Technician.
After finishing her studies dedicates his free time to deepen and develop their knowledge in this field and the technologies applied to electronic musical instruments such as synths and drum machines, by focusing on the research of vanguard sound.
Ruff has been much influenced by Punk, New Wave and Techno Pop that was in vogue in those years. These music styles, which we often find in his productions, are of great importance for him, so much they will remain etched in his soul forever.

BEAT MACHINE is the name of the project that involves Ruff & AL.E
They met for the first time during the hearing of the tracks of ELECTRO PLASMA where AL.E eulogized Ruff for outstanding work.
Since 1997 he began to work together for the project Funky House, wich starts with the previous collaboration of DJ Klaus.
Thanks to their personal musical experiences and their common taste Funky 70's and 80's Eletronic Wave, in 2005 have registered their first album called "Beat Machine", which was produced and distributed by the Swiss label ESP - Turicaphon AG.
RUFF early 1989 in collaboration with his cousin Mark B, decided to form their first band, IN A LOW VOICE, the name had been chosen randomly pointing the finger of a vocabulary.
They bought their first instruments Emu, Ensoniq, Alesis and other equipments, which had to pay by instalments. The Techno Pop of Depeche Mode had acted as bait, in fact, at the beginning of their career In a Low Voice often played their covers.
After you have found their right groove, in 1989 recorded a first demo tape noting a discreet regional success and followed by concerts in Canton Ticino (CH) and in Northern Italy.
In 1990, on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of Ian Curtis death, the famous leader of the band Joy Division, participate in a compilation of covers choosing to remake "A Means to an End" with the collaboration of their friend guitarist known under the name of Cele.
The song is transmitted by the Swiss National Radio Network 3 noting a great success. Gerand G later joins the band, which will alternate with Mark in the role of singer and keyboardist. They will create new tracks with a softer style that recalls the sound of the Talking Heads, and some previous songs will be revisited and remixed.
Unfortunately, in 1991, Mark and Gerard left the band to pursue other professions.
Ruff begins a period as soloist; contaminated by the new trend Break Beat, between 1993 and 1997 creates some tracks under the name of ELECTRO PLASMA and founded a new studio called PLASMA, his sonorities become harder and technology.
In 1996, Ruff knows casually Klaus, DJ had performed in various clubs in Europe.
So began a collaboration to create new songs tend to Disco House.
BEAT MACHINE
Later debut album was recorded a remix performance of a famous song by Herbie Hancock renamed "Thriller Jazz".
In early 2006 Beat Machine have composed two new singles "Free My Body" and "Do You Funky", the latter characterized by beautiful arrangements of brass.
After two years of break Maurizio M, a piano teacher and friend of Ruff, asked him to compose a remixed version of his vinyl mix of Garage House a little dated, so from the studio Plasma comes out Remixed version of "Movin".
AL.E is active in the music business since the early 70's, he recorded his first album in 1979.
Until now has participated in more than 250 products of jazz both as musician and producer.
Born to be a good drummer, lately has been fascinated by electronic percussion and groovebox, so that now it can’t be separated from these machines.
DJ RUFF since 2010 is the new alias of Raffaele A, it was created for some productions of House mixed compilations. Occasionally collaborates again with AL.E, who is working for a new project called KILLJOY SQUAD.
Last year he composed for them a song "Intro" for the Live Tour 2012.
